The Philippine Medical Association of San Diego (PMASD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization of Filipino American Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers committed to uplifting and enriching the Filipino community by recognizing and responding to its needs, both locally in San Diego and abroad in the Philippines.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in all people, here in San Diego as well as globally. In the United States, the Filipino Community suffers from heart disease at a rate twice that of the general American population. San Diego County has the third highest population of Filipino Americans, with over 200,000. The PMASD Carabao 5K promotes a lifestyle that encourages stronger hearts to defend against this horrible, largely preventable disease.
